The San Francisco 49ers handed a big defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. But that victory came at a cost. Already missing out on their QB1 Jimmy Garoppolo, the Niners lost another offensive weapon to injury. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel left the game with an apparent ankle injury. And free agent Odell Beckham Jr. can feel Samuel’s pain.

OBJ has sent his prayers to the Niners WR, who looks set to sit out till the end of the season.

Odell Beckham Jr. sends a message for Deebo Samuel

After the news of Deebo Samuel’s horrific injury broke, Odell Beckham Jr. was quick to react to it. OBJ sustained a similar injury in the Super Bowl season and is yet to return to the field. The ex-Los Angeles Rams wide receiver tweeted his prayer for the fellow football player.

“I just got chills. My heart goes out to u Deebo. Prayin for u,” OBJ wrote.

Reports emerged that Samuel has suffered an ankle injury and may be unavailable for the season. With the playoffs looming, the news is certainly a bad one for the franchise. And they might actually need a wide receiver for the rest of the season. With the Cowboys deal off, OBJ might find a perfect landing spot in San Francisco.

The OBJ situation

Odell Beckham Jr. suffered an ACL injury during his Super Bowl appearance with the Rams in February 2022. He signed for the Rams from the Cleveland Browns on a six-month deal. But the Rams did not offer him an extension, despite OBJ helping them lift the Vince Lombard trophy, due to the injury. He is still a free agent with multiple teams in pursuit of his signature.

The Dallas Cowboys were the frontrunners to sign the explosive wide receiver but that deal now seems off. The Cowboys are concerned that OBJ has not fully recovered from his ACL injury. And the wide receiver has indicated he doesn’t see the point to play before the playoffs this season.

“I would like to be in a stable environment. Get up 6 a.m., leave at 6 p.m. for four weeks and then let’s talk about it. I’ve played football for a long time. I’m not saying I couldn’t step in and play regular season, but I don’t see the point. I really don’t. I’d rather play when that pressure’s on,” OBJ said on the Thursday Night Football show.
