There are only a few moments in life that define a person’s whole life, and sometimes, a single decision can change the outcome of history. What every athlete craves, be it success or fame, Deion Sanders had both. He was at the top of his game with the hugest potential in multiple sports. However, he faced numerous difficulties that questioned his reality.
If we talk about the toughest and bravest, even they had endured their lowest point. Sanders is the prime example of a human being who rose from rock bottom in life and excelled in every court he stepped in.

At the peak of Sanders‘ career, he was married with two children with his first wife, Carolyn Chambers. Sanders seemed genuinely happy, with a successful career and a loving family. However, his life took a dark turn in the mid-90s when he began to grapple with mental illness. There are many factors as to why he could have been so unhappy, but one of the reasons was his failing marriage, which led to a nasty divorce in 1998.
Coach Dad was in a hectic custody battle with his now ex-wife for their two kids, which ended with him losing his guardianship. He was so depressed with life he drove his car off a cliff in 1997 with no intentions of coming back. Fortunately, he was unhurt and managed to pull through with little to no injury.
During the most challenging period of Sander’s life, he took faith in God and decided to follow the lord’s way. He started practicing Christianity and visited churches as much as he could. That’s when he met Pastor David Forbes while playing for the Cincinnati Reds, who was the biggest contributor to helping with his suicidal thoughts.
