The Buffs, led by Coach Prime, continue their winning streak, nabbing their latest victory. Shedeur Sanders led the Colorado Buffaloes in their double overtime win against the Colorado State Rams, 43-35 in the Saturday match. But, he owes it all to his dad’s ‘coach mode’.

The young QB later revealed how he tapped into ‘Brady mode’ at the pitch, lifting the victory. His brother, the buffs’ safety Shilo Sanders also hogged his share of the spotlight at the bout, landing the title of the defensive player of the week. While the sons brought the victory, Dad Sanders could not be more grateful. He reveals he switches from a dad to a coach ‘effortlessly’.

When Coach Sanders left Jackson State, he brought his two sons to Boulder, for the value they brought to the table. Shilo, the eldest, made a name for himself as a star defensive player, with an impressive record of interceptions before an injury cut short his season. Shedeur, on the other hand, excelled as a quarterback in 2022, with over 3,500 passing yards, 40+ touchdowns, and remarkably low interceptions.

Coach Sanders has always emphasized his approach as ‘coach hard’ and ‘coach tough”, a philosophy that extends to everyone on the team. He firmly made this point clear when Shilo referred to him as “Daddy” during an intense practice session: “I am not your dad. I am your coach right now,” he was quick to give the damning warning. Sanders recounted the incident in a recent press conference. Known for his straightforward and aggressive coaching style, Coach Sanders believes in trusting his sons’ talents while embracing his coaching role.

An effortless switch

Sanders seamlessly transitions between being a dad and a coach, as he explains, “When we go from the 40 to the goal line, I’m a dad. I’m making sure how he’s feeling and all that. But when we touch the goal line and head back, I’m the coach. Now, this is what I want, protect the football.

Nevertheless, Sanders isn’t shy about acknowledging his son’s contributions. Shilo’s pivotal role in securing the win against the Colorado State Rams, with two forced turnovers, earned high praise from Coach Sanders: “He is moving up. He’s moving on up like the Jeffersons.” Sanders has a knack for effortlessly switching roles and it’s clearly working as rendered by the victory of Team Sanders.
