Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were just handed their 8th loss of the season. While doing so, it appears the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense has taken their revenge on the quarterback for his remarks prior to the game. Leading up to the game, Brady talked about the Bengals’ defense on his podcast, ‘Let’s Go!” “fairly tough defense.” Consequently, the opposition players were not happy about it. Cincinnati cornerback, Eli Apple, also used the same words to refer to the QB after the game.

After the game, the CB answered the question about the rival number 12’s performance. Eli said, “He was fairly okay, but not good enough to win.” Hence giving TB12  a taste of his own medicine. The Bengals went down 17-3 in the first half. But the defense helped the team by forcing a number of turnovers in the second half and restricted the Bucs to only 6 points. While Brady’s passes were also picked off twice by the defense. Helping Joe Burrow to throw for 4 TDs in the second half alone.

Defensive Tackle BJ Hill also chipped in the conversation with the same phrase used by Brady. When asked about their second-half comeback, Hill said, “We just knew we were a fairly tough defense.” While also acknowledging their slow start. “That’s how we played in the first half, though, not going to lie to you.”

Not a good year for Tom Brady

The Buccaneers are now on a 6-8 record for the season. With only 3 games remaining, they are still somehow on top of the NFC South. But any playoff hope seems more and more likely to end at the first hurdle itself. Even for the 45-year-old, who always has an answer for his critics, this is shaping out to be a historically poor year. This is the most amount of games lost in a regular season for Brady since his debut in 2001.

This year the 7 time Super Bowl champion has only thrown 20 touchdowns and has 7 interceptions to go with them. When compared to the numbers he put up in the past two seasons with the Bucs, it is evident that Brady is not the same player. Last season, the QB had a career year for passing yards (5316) with a quarterback rating of 102.1. However, this year his completion rate (66) in addition to his QB rating (89.1) are both on a decline.
