Jinxes are real! And the New York Jets have had enough bad luck on the field to not touch wood once in a while. Their new quarterback Aaron Rodgers definitely doesn’t believe in superstitions. In his first press conference as a Gang Green passer, he made the season objectives pretty clear. The Super Bowl XLV MVP wants another ring to his name and for his franchise. However, Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently sprinkled some harsh reality on top of Rodgers’ inflated ambitions.

Every NFL season inevitably ends in disappointment for 31 teams in the league. And while most don’t want to be ridiculed for their title ambitions, it’s safe to say that a Vince Lombardi trophy is on everyone’s mind. However, are words alone enough to reach the promised land? Rodgers’ head coach thinks not.

When Aaron Rodgers arrived in the Metropolis this off-season after 18 years of quarterbacking for the Green Bay Packers, it significantly raised the Jets fan base’s expectations of postseason success. The Jets have missed the playoffs since 2010, the same year Rodgers won his only championship ring. Having last won a Lombardi in 1969, the NY Jets have finally entered the conversation of a championship run, courtesy of their 4x league MVP. However, the Jets will need more than just Rodgers, according to Robert Saleh.

Every team wants to win a championship. But you have to have the discipline to bring it back. That’s what you want. But what are you doing today? And you just gotta remind everyone what are we doing at this moment. Because if we’re not doing what we need to do today, then none of it matters anyway,” Robert Saleh said during the press conference last week.

The Jets are well into their organized team activities with their new No 8 Aaron Rodgers. However, Rodgers missed out on a few sessions owing to a calf tweak. That ended this week as the passer made his comeback to the throwing practice. The Jets even uploaded a dime video from Rodgers to their Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson on Instagram this week.

However, did Aaron Rodgers jinx the championship chase with his comments from his introductory presser?

A-Rod made his intentions pretty clear and Saleh gets it

That Super Bowl III trophy was looking a little lonely,” Rodgers said in late April after embarking on the Broadway-bound road. And Robert Saleh didn’t think too much about the comments. According to him, every team has the same ambition even if they don’t specifically spell it out each season. “It’s not arrogance,” Saleh said. “Just because teams don’t talk about it doesn’t mean that they’re not really thinking about it. Everybody in the NFL wants to win a championship,” he added.
