The Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park is one of the oldest stadiums in NFL history. While it has the prestige of being one of the oldest stadiums, it also means it lacks world-beating infrastructure. In a $1.4 billion deal, the Bills will have a new building in Orchard Park to call home.
Work of Art?
The released renderings of the new stadium have taken the internet by quite a storm. The Bills rebranded their new home by presenting it as an amalgamation of ‘fostering a culture’ and ‘building a future.’
The Bills have partnered with the Populous group, which will be in charge of bringing these images to life. They have made several stadiums across the league and even the much-adored Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Many fans critiqued the Bills’ render for being an imitation of the above. The Stadium will also have three monumental bulls at the front end to welcome fans to the stadium. Powered with modern technology, the stadium will definitely entice fans to witness their favorite team like never before.
I’m a fan.
I suspect the overhangs may be more dramatic in real life. It’s no secret that the Spurs stadium was inspiration. Outsides look similar, I may expect the overhangs might follow suit. pic.twitter.com/AlYwCYi1nO

The biggest highlight, however, has been the much-speculated roof of the stadium. The debate seems to have ended with the Bills opting for an open-air facility. Given the icy winds in this region, several fans showed their frustration with this decision. On the flip side, many saw this as a home-ground advantage for their team as they notice teams struggling to play in these conditions.
Buffalo Bills enjoying taxpayers’ money
The Bills, owned by billionaire Terry Pegula, are one of the favorites to win this year’s NFL title. However, there’s much commotion with the upcoming stadium. 60% of the fee is said to be borne by taxpayers of New York State. While Pegula got richer over the last financial year, he will enjoy his team’s new luxurious amenity with minimal financial input. $850 million is to be contributed by the citizens of the area.

Shouldn’t NFL owners go out and raise money from investors to build stadiums instead of tax payers footing the bill? And, these same tax payers can’t afford the cost to take their family to a game. Someone is getting pumped and it’s not the owners.

This creates an opportunity for local governors to win their votes, as they will look to contest this decision and protect the taxpayers of the region.
