Antonio Brown calls out the media

The Kanye West and Kyrie Irving controversy has barely died down and Antonio Brown is back in social media activity. This time he targeted the media for “not canceling” former NFL quarterback Brett Favre. Favre is in more trouble after drug companies backed by him have been tied to a welfare fund fraud.

Taking to Twitter, AB tweeted a screenshot of an article of the news against Favre. “No one said cancel this,” he wrote alongside the screenshot.

Brown has previously defended his friend and rapper Kanye West after numerous companies cut ties with him due to his antisemitic comments. The rapper had made those comments when he appeared on “Drink Champs”. Many players left the West-backed Donda Sports agency. Brown refused to step down as the President of the sports agency. When the NBA star Irving courted a similar controversy, Brown defended him by changing his Twitter display picture to that of the suspended Brooklyn Nets star.

The Brett Favre controversy

Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre has landed in more legal trouble as the drug companies backed by him have been linked to a welfare fund fraud. The companies are accused of overstating their NFL connections and the effectiveness of their concussion drugs to raise money.

The Green Bay Packers legend allegedly also helped the founder of the companies, Jacob VanLandingham, to secure funding from the same welfare fund that he used to get a gymnasium at his alma mater Mississippi State University.

The companies, Prevacus and PresolMD, secured the funding for two medicines. One was a nasal spray to reduce the effects of a traumatic brain injury. The second was a cream for reducing concussions. But reports stated that both these drugs have not been tested on humans and there is no data to back their claims.

Still, the Florida-based companies received $2.1 million from Mississippi state funds. Reports also said that Favre himself invested around $1 million in the company. The State of Mississippi has filed a civil lawsuit against both companies. Favre did not comment on the matter. VanLandingham said he did not know that the money was from welfare funds.

I had no idea this was welfare money, and I’ve always been an upstanding person when it comes to research,” he said.
