The hearts of many celebrated entities go out to the Lewis family, including the famous American podcaster and yet another Hall-of-Famer, Micheal Irwin. In his recent tweet, he displayed his emotions for the world to see as he attended 28-YO Lewis’ funeral service. 

The Tragic Loss of A Rising Star 

“Ray-Ray,” as his loved ones belovedly called him, played cornerback at his father’s alma mater, Miami, for two seasons before transferring to Coastal Carolina in 2015. Ray Lewis III’s untimely death on 15th June 2023 was a tragic event that left a void in the hearts of many. “The evidence and witness accounts show this incident to be a tragic accident,” police said in a statement, after reporting the opioid overdose. The devastating loss of a young life reminded the world of the fragility of human existence and the dangers of substance abuse. Rashaan, Lewis III’s younger brother, was the first to give information about his brother’s passing. Shortly after his brother’s death, he posted the information on his Instagram story. “Really can’t believe I’m even typing this, but RIP, big brother. A true angel, I pray (you’re) at peace now because ik how much you were (really) hurtin’…”

Ray Lewis, a legendary linebacker who spent his entire NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, had a close bond with his son. They shared a passion for football, and Ray Lewis III followed in his father’s footsteps, playing college football at Coastal Carolina University.
