Trade drama is a regular part of the NFL offseason. However, some trades become so monumentally tedious that they capture all the attention. This offseason, that is the deal involving Aaron Rodgers and his dilemma. While he had announced that he wants to head to New York Jets, the trade seems to be stuck. The deal has become so tedious that even analysts, fans, and reporters are fed up with it. Furthermore, even important entities have been speaking about it on their podcasts. One of the more popular ones has been the Odd Couple hosted by Chris Broussard & Rob Parker.

The duo recently spoke about how Rodgers going to the Jets might actually become beneficial for him. This came after the numerous speculations that have predicted a downhill trajectory for A-Rod. However, Parker and Broussard have gone on to compare Rodgers’ trajectory to the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

While Rodgers has been with the Green Bay Packers for a long time, he is most probably leaving and going to the Jets. While a lot of people have speculated that this might mean a downward fall for his career, the Odd Couple thought differently. They believed that if Rodgers moved on from the Packers and went to the Jets he would have an interesting change in his career.

The duo didn’t make this claim out of thin air. They substantiated their claim with examples of other high-caliber quarterbacks who were able to flip their careers after moving from their long-time teams.

While speaking on the podcast, they said, “I look at it as no different than Tom Brady leaving New England.  I didn’t see the slippage with Brady and I don’t see it with Rodgers,  I see a tier-one quarterback changing teams. And if you look at recent history it has been Peyton Manning with Denver, Tom Brady with Tampa, even Matt Stafford with the Rams.

With the kind of examples mentioned by the podcast hosts, it is hard to argue with their logic. All of the quarterbacks who’ve been mentioned went on to have a lot of success as they left teams they’d been with for a long time for other teams. In fact, the three quarterbacks mentioned were able to garner success after their shifts.

While citing the example of different legends like Brady and Manning, the Odd Couple showcased the possible trajectory Rodgers might be on. They first cited the example of Brady. He left the Patriots and headed to Tampa Bay where he was able to win his 7th Super Bowl.

Furthermore, they also cited the example of Peyton Manning. After playing 14 seasons for the Colts, Manning went on to play his last 4 with the Broncos. He was able to win 2 rings in Denver. Lastly, they took the example of Matthew Stafford who won a ring as soon as he shifted to the LA Rams. All in all, they made the link that Rodgers stands to have similar success in his career once he switches up to the Jets.

With the way the trajectory of the careers of these legends has gone, it might seem like Rodgers is on the right track. It only remains to be seen if Rodgers going to the Jets will improve the QB’s career.
