The Baltimore Ravens have had a fruitful week. While their deal conflict Lamar Jackson seems to be slowly getting better, they’ve acquired one of the deadliest wide receivers in the league. To the upset of multiple teams all over the league, the Ravens have gone on to successfully sign a deal with Odell Beckham Jr. With his free agency so prominent, no one knew what to expect in terms of his landing spot. However, it seems like OBJ is ready to put on the gold and purple and catch passes. Interestingly, there still might be a chance that he will be catching Jackson’s passes.

While on the Pat McAfee Show, McAfee and Ian Rapoport discussed the possibility of Jackson’s trade and negotiation being affected due to their acquisition of OBJ. Interestingly, the NFL Insider expects Jackson to get a fair deal with the Ravens.

Progress between Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

While on the show, the NFL insider discussed with McAfee the possibility of Jackson getting a fair deal, given the recent circumstances. It is obvious that after signing a superstar like OBJ, the Ravens’ salary cap must have taken a huge hit. With this, it would be logical for the possibility of a trade for Jackson to be questioned. However, Ian Rapoport reassured the viewers that the possibility of Jackson getting a good deal remains high.

One of the main reasons behind this opinion from the NFL insider was Jackson’s involvement in the OBJ deal. It was quite surprising for fans as well as analysts to see Jackson and OBJ together on social media. Furthermore, to accentuate this point, Rapoport said, “I think the Lamar thing is interesting because I you know kind of heard but never could quite make sure that Lamar was involved in the recruiting and then he posts an Instagram picture of him literally talking to Odell.” Furthermore, Rapoport also mentioned that there is a level of respect between OBJ and Jackson that brought the QB to help sign the WR.

Interestingly, according to Rapoport, this might very well be the reason that Jackson will get a fair deal with the Ravens. He further said, “You know there’s no deal for Lamar that’s close but this is a pretty good indication that he’s going to be their quarterback this year.” Reportedly, the wide receiver has gotten quite a good deal with the Ravens.

The deal struck between OBJ and the Ravens

During the last season, the whole league was wondering where a brilliant wide receiver like OBJ might be headed. There had been rumors of him headed to the Dallas Cowboys. However, no deal had materialized out o all the back and forth between the team. Furthermore, it seemed like OBJ was taking a slower approach to deciding where he’ll be heading. However, the wide receiver finally made a lucrative decision and has taken his talents to Baltimore. He has signed a one-year deal that is worth up to $18 million with a signing bonus of $13.8 million. Interestingly, there had been talks about the WR going off to the Jets but nothing concrete materialized from that.

It seems like the Ravens are aggressively building their roster for the upcoming season. If the Ravens are able to retain Jackson, they’re going to become a team that has a huge shot at next year’s Lombardi trophy.
