What a start for the San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback, Brock Purdy. He kick-started his career by slaying the GOAT in a crucial match-up! The victory was quite important for the Niners to secure their playoff berth, and fans couldn’t stop reacting to the newest star in the NFL.

The Niners selected the 22-year-old Iowa State product in the last pick of this year’s draft. And hence the nickname ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ was born. It kept haunting him until he turned out to be a hero. This experience became the pinnacle of everything he could have imagined as a rookie. In the first game of his career as a starter, Purdy got the opportunity to lock horns with Tom Brady.

The same quarterback, who is more than double his age, with loads of experience known for making surreal comebacks. And guess what? That was the only concern Purdy had before sealing a thumping 35-7 win in Week 14. He became the first passer in history to beat the NFL legend in his first career start.

He made sure not to provoke his counterpart and didn’t rule out the possibility of Brady making last-minute comebacks. ” I mean honestly, for me, I just kept telling myself, dude, this thing ain’t over with that guy on the other side of the field,” Purdy said.

“I just wanted to keep putting up points on the board however many times as we could, knowing this dude’s made all these crazy comebacks in his career. So, I didn’t want that to happen in my first game as a starter,” he added. Well, the young gun actually succeeded in his intentions and completed 16 of 21 passes for 185 yards. He also recorded two touchdowns, one passing, and another rushing, unlocking other achievements to this victory.

A 22-year-old rookie getting better off the living legend took no time to spread like a wildfire. All thanks to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, who got sidelined due to injuries. Meanwhile, fans continued showering their love and support for the youngster.

The Niners will next face the Seahawks, and by that time, it will be interesting to see whether Garoppolo gets the medical clearance or not. Otherwise, Purdy will have to enter the field again before wrapping up the 2022 season on a high note.
