The NFL Players Association released a statement clarifying the suspension of DeAndre Hopkins. The Cardinals’ WR is facing a suspension after testing positive for a banned substance and a masking agent. NFL reporting network was responsible for producing the test results. However, the players’ association has unearthed new findings in the case.
As per a recent press release, the test results were incorrect. Hopkins never used any diuretic or masking agent. Moreover, Hopkins also clarified, saying that he did not knowingly take a PED. It’s like a double-sided knife as it imposes strict liability on any player who has a banned substance in their body.

Consequently, the NFLPA said, “This reporting was incorrect as Hopkins never tested positive for any diuretic or masking agent and there was absolutely no evidence of any attempt to substitute, dilute, or adulterate any specimen or any attempt to manipulate a test. Pursuant to the 2022 Policy, his discipline is consistent with producing a positive test result for a prohibited substance.”

In addition, the six-game suspension is still in place. The Players Association did not contest his usage of a prohibited substance. This is a major hit for the Arizona Cardinals since Hopkins and Kyler Murray make the team as impactful as ever.

Hopkins is an essential part of the Cardinals’ offensive lineup, along with Kyler Murray. In 2020, he recorded 115 receives and completed 1407 receiving yards. In the next season, he recorded 42 receives in 10 games and completed 572 receiving yards.

He supplements Kyler Murray exceptionally well. In 2020, Murray recorded 26 touchdowns and 3971 passing yards. Moreover, in 2021, he recorded 24 touchdowns and 3787 passing yards. Additionally, the Hopkins-Murray duo light up the offense of the Arizona Cardinals. Without Hopkins, the Cardinals’ QB would inevitably face a hard time.
