Geno Smith took just one season under center to surpass Russell Wilson’s record of the most single season passing yards for the Seahawks.

Wilson set the previous record back in the 2016 season with 4,219 passing yards. And Smith surpassed it against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams. He has 4,282 passing yards in the current season. And he has also guided the team to an unlikely playoff spot.

It is safe to say that Seattle doesn’t really miss Russell Wilson anymore. Geno Smith has filled in the vacuum created by the departure of Wilson. And the playoff berth is one big testament to this fact.
The Seahawks did not have their fate in their own hands. They needed the Green Bay Packers to lose to the Detroit Lions to have any hope. But before that, they needed to win against the Rams to stay in the race. And Smith led them to an impressive victory.

Smith threw 213 passing yards with one touchdown pass in the game. He led the team to a 19-16 win in OT. And when the Lions defeated the Packers, the Seahawks sneaked into the playoffs. A poetic end to the regular season for Smith, just like converting a fourth down.
