Even though the 2022 NFL Draft has officially arrived, there are some ongoing concerns about current NFL players, particularly the sidelined and unrestricted agents. This brings more attention to Jimmy Garoppolo, whose NFL future has been called into question. Despite being injured, he draws praise from an NFL veteran, who’s ready to pick him over Baker Mayfield.

Jimmy G is currently undergoing rehabilitation for his surgically repaired shoulder. As per his surgeon’s advice, he has been off-site and hasn’t been available for the 49ers’ voluntary offseason workout program. Even though the San Francisco 49ers have Trey Lance to back things up, HC Kyle Shanahan has been adamant about having both the QBs in the mix.

Jimmy Garoppolo recently garners some immense praise from an NFL veteran, Brandon Marshall. The former NFL WR spoke to ‘I Am Athlete Tonight’ on Mad God Radio. He drops some major praise for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and is ready to pick him anytime over Baker Mayfield and other QBs in the draft this year.

He mentions, “I want a veteran quarterback. Jimmy Jimmy G. Jimmy Jimmy G. I’m not gonna take Baker Mayfield. Right now, I would take Jimmy G over anybody in the draft.”

Marshall’s position is not incorrect. Despite being under Tom Brady’s shadow, the Great Garoppolo broke through with the San Francisco 49ers. The quarterback has the ability to score in the games. He is a man who has established the numbers to back up his claims. During his 15 games in ’21, the 30-year-old passed for 3,810 yards, 20 scores, and 12 interceptions. The only thing Jimmy requires is a squad with whom he can thrive.

This season, Jimmy Garoppolo will earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $24.2 million. While the Niners’ administration claims that they can keep him at that price for the rest of the season, it’s still assumed that the team will move on at some time this offseason, most likely through trade.
