Justin Herbert’s LA Chargers were up against Tyreek Hill and his Dolphins over the weekend. This was a huge AFC matchup as both in-form teams battle it out for a better postseason seed. As expected, it was a closely fought game that produced some wonderful football. Though the Chargers came out on top, a rookie mistake from their safety could have cost them heavily. While they celebrate right now, the Chargers could have crucified safety Alohi Gilman for pulling one of the most ridiculous moments during the game.

The Dolphins, 8-5, are second in the AFC East. Both teams are currently building on the form that they could take into the postseason.
Premature celebration leads to huge Tyreek Hill touchdown
The stadium set up a good contest at the SoFi field in which the Chargers had the last laugh. However, NFL twitter as usual noticed some incidents that went unnoticed during the game. On looking back at it, the Chargers could have been on the other side of the game with a premature celebration on a defensive play.
When the Chargers were on defense, safety Alohi Gilman forgot the fundamentals of the game.

He committed the biggest personal error one can as he celebrated a play before the match official could blow the whistle to call a play. On a defensive play, Gilman thought his team had done their job and flexed in excitement. However, he didn’t realize the ball had been fumbled and had found the hands of the Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The speedy beast headed to the other end of the field while Gilman was still busy flexing for the cameras. Hill converted this into an epic touchdown as he took off. He set the jets on his run as he completed the touchdown. With this play, Hill reduced the Chargers’ lead.

With the Chargers winning, this play wouldn’t have caused a lot of turbulence for the LA team, as this touchdown didn’t do much in terms of the result. However, had the result been any different, Gilman would have been on the receiving end of some serious slack during the team film session. Either way, he will still make some quality meme material for teammates as they can laugh this incident off with peace after securing the big win.
