The Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers have once again disappointed the fans with their first-round picks. Another year in the NFL draft, the Packers avoided drafting a wide receiver and went for the defensive players for both the picks they had in the first round.

With star wide receivers Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling leaving the franchise, the Packers’ wide receiver room is thin. However, the team is left with nine more picks in this year’s draft and is confident in acquiring suitable receivers for the roster. But Aaron Rodgers seemed pretty upset losing Adams this off-season.

Fans roast Aaron Rodgers for being denied a wide receiver in the first round of the draft

This was not the first time the Packers made an unexpected move in the NFL draft. Despite having top-six receivers on the board, the Packers went after two defensive players from Georgia. The team’s general manager, Brian Gutekunst, went heavy on defense by acquiring linebacker Quay Walker at No. 22 and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt at No. 28.

Moreover, by the time the Packers got their chance to make a choice, some significant wide receivers had already left the arena. While the NFL draft was progressing, Aaron Rodgers was live with Pat McAfee on his show. The three-time NFL MVP said teams have to exercise caution because there tend to be “a lot of receiver busts in the first round.

It seems Rodgers had an eye on the former Alabama receiver Jameson Williams, the most “NFL ready” receiver in the draft. The youngster was recovering from a torn ACL but has an extreme potential to be a game-changer. However, he was drafted by the division rival Detroit at No. 12 overall.

In the show, Rodgers even talked about his reaction to the Adams trade. He said the trade actually “surprised” him and it was an unexpected move. If the franchise is unsuccessful in drafting a significant receiver, things will go terrible for the Packers’ offense in the upcoming season. Fans were soon to hop into the discussion and started roasting Rodgers by sharing crazy memes online.

According to Brian Gutekunst, Aaron Rodgers spent a lot of time with him & management to sort things out for the draft. Moreover, Gutekunst is pretty confident and said he won’t force a receiver pick on Friday when he has two second-round picks (Nos. 53 and 59) and a third-rounder (92).

“I don’t think we have to,” he said. “I think there are some really good receivers left in this draft, and we’ll kind of see how it plays out. We have nine picks left, so we’ve got a lot of ammunition. Whether we stick and pick or move around, we’ll kind of see how that goes.” Gutekunst said.
