The Philadelphia Eagles are currently figuring out their team for the next season. After a poor season, they got rid of Head Coach Doug Pederson.

Despite having won a Super Bowl just 3 years ago, Pederson’s poor performances over the course of the season led to his firing. And while Carson Wentz looks to be on his way out, he isn’t the only Philadelphia Eagles star looking to part ways with the franchise.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Eagles’ tight end Zach Ertz is still on the trading block for the franchise. He himself noted after the end of the regular season that he isn’t sure whether he would come back to the franchise.

And now, the franchise is ready to let him go. The Eagles have salary cap constraints, and cannot afford to bring Ertz back into the team next season.

Philadelphia Eagles looking for trade packages

The Eagles will be looking to offload Ertz to another team. Currently, Philadelphia’s front office is preoccupied with finding an ideal trade package for Carson Wentz.

The departure of Wentz could clear a great deal of cap space for Ertz to stay. However, given the arrival of new coach Nick Sirianni, the team is looking like they are ready to go into a rebuild for the next season.

Ertz is currently set to earn close to $8 million next season. That pushes them over the salary cap for 2021. This is why the team is looking for a trade for him.

However, other teams are also struggling with cap constraints right now, which is why they are struggling to find a team that is willing to take Ertz off their books. The front office has their work cut out for them.

Will the Philadelphia Eagles be able to trade away Zach Ertz before the deadline? The Eagles’ front office will be working in overdrive right now, trying to secure deals for all the players they have deemed surplus to requirements going into the next season. But the task is far from easy, with all teams facing a great deal of uncertainty with regards to their cap constraints.
