Every athlete is a bit hard on themselves at least during the initial stages of their careers. All eyes are on them and the pressure of performing exceptionally well takes a toll on them. Similarly, the 4X NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers reflected on the things he did when he was a rookie in the NFL. Moreover, he wished he did a few things differently.

Rodgers gets candid in the SiriusXM podcast where he sheds light on his younger version as a QB in the Packers. He says, “I’ve done some dumb things, I’ve done some petty things… Listen, what I’ve been learning and working on is hard. It is to be more gentle with myself.”
Further, he added, “It’s so easy to criticize ourselves, judge ourselves, and hold us to some perfect standard. And it took me a long long time, and it’s something I’ve been working on.” The QB says that he wishes he could be more gentle with himself considering how harsh he was on himself during his early days in the NFL.
In addition, Rodgers feels that he is at a better place in his career now. Although he has won just one Super Bowl, his heroics in the NFL have earned him back-to-back MVPs and have established him as a superstar in the league.

Reflecting on his career, Rodgers feels that he is not going to play as long as Tom Brady. However, he wishes to give his best till the time he plays in the league. With his star wideout Davante Adams getting traded to the Raiders, Rodgers could have a hard time this season.

Rodgers is not expected to play the first two preseason games. However, he is making it his essential priority to build an unbroken connection with his WRs now that the Packers’ WR corps is short of a Davante Adams.
The 38-year-old QB is learning to be more gentle with himself and not give heed to any criticism. Rodgers has come a long way in his Hall of Fame worthy career as a Packer. However, the most important thing he has learned from his 17 years as a QB1 is to not being too hard on himself.
