The reigning Super Bowl champion and free agent Von Miller found a new landing spot for the upcoming 2022 season. The Buffalo Bills recruited the linebacker with a lucrative contract; however, Miller revealed that he was more interested in playing for his home team and nearly signed a contract with Jerry Jones’ franchise. But his ‘never say never to opportunities in life’ mindset delivered him a spot with the Bills rather than playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
Recently, while speaking to Dan Pompei of The Athletic, the Texas native explained the exact reason behind his decision to reject the Cowboys despite getting an offer from them. As expected, compensation was the primary issue.

The veteran was offered a five-year, $70 million deal which the Cowboys promised to pay Randy Gregory, who apparently signed with Miller’s former team Denver Broncos this offseason.
“I told them I was ready to come to the Cowboys,” Miller said. “I would have taken less to go to Dallas because it’s Dallas. But I wouldn’t take that much less,” he explained why he turned down the offer.
On the contrary, the Bills were keen to recruit this top prospect for 2022 free agency. Miller signed a humongous six-year, $120 million contract with more than $51 million guaranteed. That means, on average, he will make around $17.5 million per year, which is way more than the Cowboys’ $14 million deal per year.
Moreover, the former Super Bowl MVP affirmed that he wishes to complete his entire tenure with the Bills. “This place chose me,” Miller told The Athletic. “Buffalo just chose me. And it’s been trying to choose me all of these years,” he added.

Being a top prospect, it is certain to receive numerous offers. However, the linebacker revealed that he waited for the Broncos to extend a deal and play with the franchise if they traded for Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. But apparently, he didn’t get any request to move forward.
Similarly, Miller claimed that he was “90 percent certain” to join the Rams. The Super Bowl-winning team offered a three-year deal with two years guaranteed. Eventually, the Bills were lucky enough to make an agreement with the veteran.
