Tua Tagovailoa made the highlights of the season when he resurrected the hopes of the Miami Dolphins to make the playoffs. His absence caused the franchise a lot of damage. The Dolphins were once recording a 1-7 run into the season, however, the young QB pulled off seven straight wins to get the team back to a sound state and for possible playoff contention. But he had to wrap up his season empty-handed just like Baker Mayfield.
Tua Tagovailoa was certainly a shooter with no prominent weapons, but the Dolphins got him Tyreek Hill for the 2022 season. Mayfield and OBJ parted ways in sour terms the previous season, and the franchise struggled to make it through.

Omar Kelly believes Miami Dolphins are making Tua Tagovailoa the new Baker Mayfield

“My thought is the expectations that they’re [Dolphins] creating,” he continued. “They’re creating this perception of Dolphins now. ‘Oh! The Dolphins are just ready to win it’s just on the quarterback.’ And I don’t necessarily agree with that… He’s a young quarterback. He’s in his. He’s going into his third year.”
Kelly believes that the Dolphins are making the same mistake as the Browns did with their first overall pick Baker Mayfield. Mayfield, though being a star from the very beginning did not get enough time to settle in the QB1 role as Aaron Rodgers did with the Packers. Rodgers was under the apprenticeship of Brett Favre before filling in his shoes.
