The NFL is exploring the virtual world since the beginning of the season. It began when they announced their collaboration with Dapper Labs in a deal to create exclusive digital NFTs out of some memorable clips of the game. Since then, the league has taken its first step to enter the NFT world.

The NFL has said to pair up their purchased tickets at select games with “Virtual Commemorative Tickets” which will then be sent as NFTs to eligible Ticketmaster wallets, according to their recent press release. And so with that, the fans can now own a certain clip of the game of their favorite players and plays.

NFL on entering the virtual space

“We are thrilled to partner with Dapper Labs in its launch of NFL digital video collectibles,” said Joe Ruggiero, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products at the NFL earlier this season. “We believe blockchain technology has great potential to enhance the NFL fan experience in the future and we are excited to have Dapper Labs as one of our first collaborators in exploring this emerging space.”

The NFL has already released their first batch of commemorative NFTs through Ticketmaster and Polygon for the Week 9 game between San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. As eligible fans have received the emails for them, to make a claim on their favorite NFT.
