Jerry Jones is investing heavily in the Dallas Cowboys to make them Super Bowl contenders again. He wants to lift the Super Bowl title, a feat last achieved by the franchise in 1996. But he won’t stop there. His dream also includes a 2026 quadrennial event that is coming to the US shores.

Jones’ dream got a boost when the NFL owners rallied behind it and approved $295 million for it.

Jerry Jones recently unveiled his dream project of revamping the Cowboys’ home, the AT&T Stadium. The revamp will cost around $295 million. And it is not only with the franchise in mind, but also features a quadrennial event that the United States will host in 2026. Jones has an eye on hosting some games of the next FIFA World Cup. So, in his dream, football and soccer go hand in hand.

The NFL has backed Jones’ plan to revamp. Though not many details have been made public, reports say that the project will be privately funded by the Jones family.

“The Jones family’s post-opening private reinvestments in AT&T Stadium will now approach $500 million over the next several years with a significant new program commencing in the spring of 2023, continuing through fall of 2025,” a statement about the plan said.

The FIFA World Cup matches are planned for Dallas, but Jones has previously stated that he wants AT&T Stadium in Arlington to get some games. The revamp has a 2025 deadline with that interest in mind.

The stadium isn’t getting a total makeover though. The revamp is mostly to upgrade the technology that is used for the viewers at the venue. That will give the spectators a greater viewing experience when the Cowboys march toward the Super Bowl in the future. And they might be headed there this year too with the playoff berth already sealed.

The Cowboys march on

The Cowboys are marching on to the playoffs this season. And the NFC East title is still up for grabs as the leaders Philadelphia Eagles faltered in their latest game against the New Orleans Saints. If the Cowboys win their last game and the Eagles lose theirs, the division title is coming to Dallas.

The Cowboys were jittery at the start of the season. But they have rallied to become genuine contenders for the NFC conference title at least, if not the Super Bowl. They are 12-4 overall and will look to better it when they take on the Washington Commanders in Week 18.
