The Philadelphia Eagles have had a rough Super Bowl week. Their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a controversial holding call during Super Bowl 57 left a bad taste. Now to add salt to their wounds, a hit made by the Eagles’ safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson has been brought to attention.
During the late fourth quarter, Gardner-Johnson delivered a huge hit to Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco, who had trouble getting up after the play. According to several angles of the video footage, Johnson lowered his head during the contact but was not flagged for the stick. At least, not immediately.

While another user felt that Johnson leading with his helmet might be the reason.
He led with his helmet. I don’t agree but it’s todays NFL

“He was fined because he led with his helmet… it’s more for his safety that’s how players end up with broken necks, fused spines, etc. On this occasion, it’s not a dangerous tackle for Pacheco definitely dangerous for CJGJ though.” A user chimed in on the play in question and expressed his concern regarding the safety of the players.

The NFL has been the victim of criticism, especially with the recent rule changes. While many passionate fans feel that these rules have somehow made the NFL “soft”, that could not be farther from the truth. With a high-contact sport like football, the rules need to be held in high regard just to maintain a safe and highly intense playing environment.
