NFL Insider Drops Crucial Update on 49ers’ Tom Brady Pursuit: “You Made This Trade to Get Trey Lance.. Play the Kid”

A week after opening up about his retirement, via his “Let’s Go!” podcast, Tom Brady reignited speculation about his potential comeback. As a consequence, the 49ers believe they can make a run at Brady if he decides to come out of retirement. Brian Baldinger, however, does not envision Brady playing for the Niners and he wants them to focus on Trey Lance instead.

After the Niners lost the NFC championship, Jimmy Garoppolo’s trade rumors have surfaced. Brady is still capable of playing as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Additionally, after his comments on his podcast show about a possible comeback, the Niners believe they can make a run at him.

Brady said, “You never say never…… I feel very good about my decision. I don’t know how I’ll feel six months from now.” Niners hope that Brady would be interested in playing for his home team if he unretires.

Brain Baldinger is in strong disagreement with this. He believes that Tom Brady will not be interested in playing for the San Francisco 49ers. In this regard, Brian wants the Niners organization to focus on what it already has in hand.

Moreover, he believes Trey Lance has been heavily invested in by the Niners; thus, he should have a chance to play. In his tweet via The Morning Roast, Brian suggested that since Niners acquired quarterback Trey Lance after paying a high price, thus they should play him instead of going for Brady.

Price 49ers paid to acquire Trey Lance

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Trey Lance as the first-round, third-overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. To move up in the draft, the Niners had to trade a couple of future first-round picks, as well as their 2022 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins. Lance began this NFL season behind incumbent starter Jimmy Garoppolo.

However, when Garoppolo was injured, Lance saw significant playing minutes. The quarterback threw for 603 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in this entire season. Nevertheless, he was only used as a backup quarterback when Garoppolo was active.

Brady’s future is uncertain as far as we know. The Niners have a great talent in their squad who can make a tremendous contribution if is given sufficient opportunities.
