The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to fill the roster voids as the regular season comes close to the kickoff. Although this time, the franchise got themselves an influential athlete on the same roster as Tom Brady. The Buccaneers bring in DL Carl Nassib, who is the first openly gay athlete active in the NFL. After he enters Tampa, he opens up regarding his influence as an LGBTQIA+ member.

OLB Carl Nassib made his first appearance in front of the media after becoming a Buccaneer. After being the first openly gay NFL player, the new Bucs LB spoke about the influence he put on people’s lives. Crazy Carl has had a great career and is now back in the Bay.

Nassib mentions, “Yeah. Absolutely. That’s been the most rewarding thing about the last year, about people coming up to me and, uh, telling me, you know, the positive impact I had. It is just really, like, so rewarding. It is the reason why I did it, and I think that you know we can continue, everybody can continue to help, and like, do that positive in anyone’s life to make their day a little bit better. So yeah. I hope that i can be pushing a little towards the positive direction.”

The OLB also mentions that It’s been fantastic and nothing less than a blessing. He also expresses his delight as a football player to go out there and show his dominance and help the team in any way he can.

Last year, Carl Nassib shocked the world when he became the NFL’s first active openly gay athlete. At the time, he was a representative of the Black and Silver.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boosted their pass rush on Tuesday by signing veteran free agent Carl Nassib to a one-year contract. According to The Athletic’s Greg Auman, Nassib’s new agreement is a “veteran salary benefit” pact. His contract has a $1.035 million base salary and a $152,500 signing bonus. It will only cost $1.05 million against Bucs’ salary cap.

After parting ways with pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul and promoting Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the starting lineup, the team brings in Crazy Carl to boost the defensive line. Nassib rejoining the Buccaneers would be his second stay with the team. In Carl’s previous run, he would put up the elegant statistics of his tenure. As the roster continues to develop, the Bucs’ aim towards the Lombardi got a step further.
