Did the Cleveland Browns purposely lose under Hue Jackson?
Brian Flores’s lawsuit against the NFL has shaken everything in the league. The former Miami Dolphins head coach revealed that the owner Stephen Ross forced him to lose games in 2019. Ross even offered Flores a $100,000 incentive per loss. It seems like Flores inspired the former Cleveland Browns HC to come forward and speak out.
Hue Jackson revealed in February that the Browns also pressurized him to lose games. Jackson was the head coach of the franchise from 2016 to 2018. He did not have an impressive record. Jackson went 1-31 in his first two seasons and was fired in the middle of the third season. The former HC revealed that he was on a four-year plan, and the owners offered him insensitive to lose.
“I told [Jimmy Haslam] that what he was doing was very destructive, to not do this because it’s going to hurt my career and every other coach that worked with me and every player on the team,” said Jackson. “And I told him that it would hurt every Black coach that would follow me. And I have the documents to prove this.” Many former Browns players have backed up Jackson and his claims.
