The Chiefs beat the Raiders in a blowout win for Andy Reid’s offensive juggernaut in their final regular season game. The highlight of the night was obviously superstar QB, Patrick Mahomes, as he passed future Hall of Famer, Drew Brees, for the most total yards in a season in NFL history.

Another highlight which set the internet rolling was Andy Reid’s weird and new play call which had everyone laughing.

Mahomes finished the game with a 69 per cent completion rate while throwing for 202 yards and a TD. But as the spotlight shines on Mahomes and the Chiefs, many fans took to Twitter to question a crucial decision by Andy Reid in the 4th quarter vs the Raiders.

The question surrounding Andy Reid

With the Chiefs up 24-6 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, all eyes fell on Andy Reid when he decided to keep Patrick Mahomes in the game. The controversial decision brought about a lot of confused and angry fan reactions on Twitter. Fans criticised Reid for the decision as it was one that could have resulted in an injury for Mahomes playing meaningless minutes.

Reid has been known for his eccentric decision-making, but Saturday morning’s game certainly pushed the limits for fans.

The Chiefs will now start to gear up behind their superstar-led offense as they prepare for a deep postseason run. After the win versus the Raiders, the Chiefs have solidified themselves at the No 1 spot in the league standings. For a record 6th time, a team under Andy Reid has clinched the top spot in the NFL regular season.

Only Bill Belichick can claim to have more seasons finishing No 1 with seven such seasons with the Patriots. Mahomes and his team can soak up their historic accomplishment, as they also tie the franchise record for most wins in a regular season by the Chiefs.

Having earned a bye in the wild-card round, the Chiefs will have a long wait before meeting their first playoff opponent. As we wait for the playoffs to roll around, we can only wait to see how chaotic the postseason gets.
