Schefter was the first ones to report the death of the young athlete, however, it was not taken in good light. He mentioned how Haskins was a standout college football player but was “struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL.” From NFL veteran Dez Bryant to Lamar Jackson everyone criticized his comments.

Although Schefter later took down the tweet, the impressions of his slip-up could still be found on Twitter. His unnecessary commentary on Haskins’ professional career was not received well.
