NFL fans tuning into Raw or SmackDown would see familiar faces of the past. Former athletes like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Goldberg are some prominent names. However, there is a slight twist with Pat McAfee and Happy Corbin. Both have NFL roots, but they also had good ties, unlike now in the WWE.

The mugshots of Pat McAfee and Happy Corbin from their rookie NFL careers are wildly rolling. To add more interest, McAfee and Corbin, aka Thomas Pestock, were on the Indianapolis Colts in 2009. They both were drafted in the same year and now are in a grueling rivalry in SmackDown that leads to WWE’s SummerSlam, the Biggest Party of the Summer.

In 2019, Pat McAfee joined Wrestling Inc.’s Nick Hausman as a part of the WINCLY Podcast. He recalled the times of their rookie NFL days and his relationship with Baron ‘Thomas Pestock‘ Corbin.

“Baron Corbin lived in my house for months when he played for the Colts our rookie year. Baron Corbin and I know each other well. I’m not a golden gloves boxer at all, so I think our backgrounds might be a bit different, but I think he’s incredible on the microphone. He’s very hateable, both in real life and his character, so it’s a perfect foil,” The Ex-Colts Punter and kickoff specialist mentioned via Wrestling Inc.

Unlike Pat McAfee’s success in the NFL, Corbin had to struggle. The Colts let him go, Corbin

joined the practice squad, and then let go once more. That would be his ‘End of Days’ in the NFL. Happy Corbin gave up football for good in 2011 and switched his cleats for wrestling boots. Even if his heel character attracts the wrong attention from the WWE Universe, the Lonewolf had to put in a lot of energy to be who he is today. However, he doesn’t seem pleased that his old roommate, who somewhat stumbled into his WWE gig. He is now belittling McAfee’s endeavors.

The in-house audience saw a more burst of action-packed storytelling after ‘Money In The Back’ went off the air. Corbin forcefully drags Pat McAfee into the audience as he and Michael Cole wrap up the broadcast. Then the former United States Champion crushed the former NFL punter with a stunning End of Days finishing maneuver.
