Cam Newton is back with the New England Patriots. Newton signed a 1-year $14 million contract with the New England Patriots. The eccentric 31-year-old had a poor season last year, struggling with his new team.

Under Newton’s QB stewardship, the Patriots missed the Playoffs for the first time in his career. But they still have enough faith to bring Newton back to the franchise.

However, one NFL analyst believes that they didn’t plan enough to look for anyone else. Nick Wright spoke on First Things First about Cam Newton re-signing with the Patriots.

“A number of things stood out to me. One is, it’s a reminder that New England has got money to spent this year. Another is, it is a reminder to folks everywhere, a good lesson – treat people well, show up on time, work hard and you might be rewarded even if you go through a tough stretch.”

Cam Newton- Not a good Plan-A?

Wright added that Newton struggled for significant periods of time last season, which is what makes him re-signing with the Patriots all the more surprising.

He believes that the reason the Patriots brought him back is that they didn’t have a solid Plan-B. And while it is a risky move, it is the move they are going with at the moment.

“I don’t know if Plan A in Cam is a great one. We’ll see how he looks, I root for him. But they understood that if he went somewhere else, they are a man without a country at the most important position in sports.”
