Carson Wentz is coming off a poor season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Super Bowl winner was a disappointment with the Eagles and was even benched for youngster Jalen Hurts.

The firing of Doug Pederson has cast a shadow of doubt over Wentz’s future in Philly. There are rumors going around that the Eagles could be looking to trade Wentz in.

NFL analyst Adam Schefter spoke in an interview recently. He believes that a trade for Carson Wentz is not likely. This is primarily because the Eagles will not get the return they desire for him.

Despite Wentz’s poor performance this year, he is still a solid quarterback who can play at an MVP level when the team really needs him to. “No, not more likely. Because they’re not going to trade him unless they get back fair value.

“And what I would say is, the issue there is that the Eagles will want strong compensation for a guy that a few years ago could’ve won the NFL MVP. They all want strong conversation.”

However, Schefter noted that the Eagles will not be resistant to offers. They will pay respect to other teams and listen to any trade packages they will present to them.

But the Eagles are ready to keep Carson Wentz in the team and have him compete with Jalen Hurts in pre-season to see who should start.

He said“And let me say this: that they will listen, absolutely listen. And if a team makes the right offer, there will be a trade that will be made.

“But if a team doesn’t make the right offer, I think that they will be open to bringing him back and having him compete in camp with Jalen Hurts. So, to me, it could go either way.”

Will Carson Wentz try to leave the Eagles?

When it was suggested that the wide reaching effects of the dismal 2020 season could have caused a rift between Wentz and the Eagles franchise, Schefter seemed to concur.

He noted that it could contribute to him wanting to him leave the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the trade will not be easy. What’s more, none of this a reaction; in fact, it had been simmering on the surface, ready to boil over.

“And wants to leave the franchise. Okay? And that’s why the trade still is in play. And, again, people wondering where did this stuff come from at the end of the year. Was it made [up]? This is all real. None of this is made up.”

Schefter added that Wentz wanting to leave doesn’t mean that he will get his wish, it will depend on whether the Eagles are willing to play ball. And the truth is that they are not actively looking for a trade.

“And just because he would like to be moved or hasn’t commented doesn’t mean he will be. If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded. That would be my guess. At some point this offseason. But, again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.”
