Sean Payton leaves after 15 great seasons with the Saints
After stepping down as head coach of the New Orleans Saints last season, Payton is no longer in charge. After 15 seasons with the Saints, including a Super Bowl triumph in the most unlikely of circumstances, the franchise fell apart on the field last season.
With recent speculations that the Panthers are interested in Payton, current head coach Matt Rhule is entering his third NFL season with the team and needs a significant boost in performance.
After starting the season 3-0, the Panthers concluded with a 5-12 record, finishing last in their division. Despite the team’s poor record, billionaire owner David Tepper recently backed Rhule, who is 47 years old. “I believe in Matt. He has my full support,” said Tepper.
With the 58-year-old, Sean Payton, now rumored to be a potential avenue, the franchise will explore, how he could benefit the team’s strategies. Payton could make just about any circumstances work with his attacking mentality.
