New York Jets wide receiver Keelan Cole almost made the most mesmerizing TD catch of the 2021 season on Sunday against Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, it was ‘almost’ a TD pass as referees later ruled it out, making the Jets fans furious about it.
With a little over 20 seconds left to play in the first half, Cole received an unbelievable back-shoulder throw from quarterback Mike White. The catch was so beautiful that we could have nominated it for the best catch of the year if only it were a touchdown.

Almost the best catch of the season
Cole’s insane reception sparked the wildfire of a viral reaction. And most referred to it as the best catch of the year. Unfortunately, the catch was overturned after the replay as according to the NFL’s officials, Cole though had “possession of the ball when airborne,” when “he hit the ground he immediately loses control of the ball.”

And when later Cole regained control of the ball he was out of grounds, such was the argument written on the NFL officiating feed. And with that, all the effort and celebration was all in vain. However, it did not stop the fans from tweeting the hell out of the clip, making it viral within a few minutes.

Despite all the effort, the Jets failed to convert it into a successful drive. However, two plays later, they still scored a TD as quarterback White found wide receiver Braxton Berrios for an eight-yard touchdown to bring New York to within three points just before halftime.

Although had Cole’s reception been legal, his catch would have been the ultimate and unbeaten contender of the best catch of the season. Yet the athletic wide receiver will still have many chances to prove his athleticism in the coming few weeks.
