Todd Bowles is all set to take charge as the new head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While speaking to the media, the former defensive coordinator reserved heaps of praise for his predecessor Bruce Arians and called him his father figure in the league.

Bruce Arians retiring from his coaching position was never easy to accept. His abrupt decision sparked several theories among the fans and speculations citing frictions between Brady and the head coach. Although it remains an unconfirmed theory, Arians will now take on the front office as the Senior football consultant.

Todd Bowles remembers Arians’ legacy

No doubt, there isn’t any other person in the league to be as experienced as Arians and suitable for the head coach position. However, fate had something else destined for the veteran. Interestingly, the new HC Bowles is a competitive person who was fostered under the guidance of Bruce Arians for a long-time.

That means the majority of his coaching skills were imparted by his teacher Bruce Arians. “He is the most influential coaching figure and father figure that I have ever had in this league,” Bowles asserted the greatness of his predecessor during the Bucs press meet.

Bowles also said that Arians’ presence shall be missed, and his legacy will be carried forward to fulfill the team’s ambitions. He won’t change anything or the foundations that Arians had left; rather, he will focus on adding the values and enhancing the capabilities of the team. Bowles’ relationship with the Arians dates back to about 40 years, when he was playing under him, and learning the nuances of coaching.

Earlier, Bowles gave his shot as the head coach for the New York Jets in the 2015 campaign. Initially, it was a success as he put together a formidable score of 10-6; but tumbled a bit for the next three years. Now, it is a huge responsibility bestowed upon him to coach one of the biggest contenders for the Superbowl title.

Bruce Arians: An exceptional coach

Arians’ retirement from the position was an absolute shocker for millions of Buccaneer fans around the globe. Despite asserting his happiness on Brady’s return, he left the station without any prompts or room for discussions.

Having spent 50 years of his precious life in this domain, Bruce has achieved more than anyone could ever imagine. He began his coaching journey at Virginia Tech in 1975 and ended a phenomenal career with the Bucs this offseason.

He worked as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals since 2013 before taking up his job at Tampa Bay in 2019. Well, the time will show how much the team has benefited or suffered from Bruce Arians’ departure. The Buccaneers will enter the field this season, eying for a third title in the league.
