The star wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers, Deebo Samuel, wants to get out of the franchise at any cost. The recent reports claim that Samuel doesn’t even want to have one-on-one salary negotiations with the club. He has already packed his bags, waiting for a new landing spot.

A few days ago, Deebo Samuel shocked the Niners fans with an unexpected request. He asked the management to trade him despite being on a four-year contract with the franchise. However, it seems salary is not just an issue for him.

Deebo Samuel refuses to have negotiations with the Niners

For the past three years, Samuel was a multi-faceted weapon for the Niners’ offense. Retaining Samuels would be vital for the team. But with the recent developments, it seems, the receiver has already left the station. On Friday, Pat McAfee had a special guest in the form of NFL insider Ian Rapoport. They were discussing the Samuel trade and the potential reason behind it.

According to Rapoport, Deebo Samuel appears to be 100% sure that he wants out of the Bay Area. Moreover, he also acknowledged the rumor that Samuel has not received any contract offers from the Niners. “I would say that is correct that Deebo Samuel has not received an offer from the 49ers. From my understanding, he told them, ‘I want to be traded. Don’t make an offer.’ … I don’t think this is [about the money]” Rapoport said on the show.

He also mentioned that had Niners offered Samuel better pay in the early stages, the situation now might have been different. “Now, if he had an offer in the hand of $25 million a year, might it make it more difficult to have started this whole thing? Yeah. I think, had the 49ers made an offer initially, he’d have a lot more to think about. They didn’t. So he does not have an offer. He told them, ‘Don’t make an offer. I want to be traded.’ So I think all of that was accurate.” Rapoport added to his statement.

Jimmy Garoppolo supports Deebo Samuel’s decision

One more player who is getting ready to part ways with the Niners is their long-time quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. On his recent appearance at the Mad Dog Sports Radio with Adam Schein, Jimmy Garoppolo vented his thoughts on the recent developments. “However this whole thing works out for him, he deserves his money, he’s going to get it, one way or the other, I just wish the best for him. He’s all-time, and I just appreciate him as a friend.” Garoppolo said in the interview.

Apart from the salary cap, the Niners used Samuel in a hybrid role. This might be one of the reasons why he asked for a trade. There are only a few days left for this year’s draft and Samuel asking for a trade will create some problems for the team. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers are the front-runners eying for a star receiver on the roster.
