NFL free agency has been the talk of the town lately. While many expected that to be the case, the Washington Commanders’ situation also demands close attention. Speculations among the league lead many to believe that it is indeed happening, after 24 years as the franchise owner of the Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder is officially looking to part ways with the team.

As per a recent report by Pro Football Talk, Dan Snyder and his wife Tanya Snyder have cleared out of the team facility, indicating a probable change in ownership. A series of serious accusations levied against the Washington Commanders’ owner and his associates forced their hand to walk away from the team, although a potential replacement for Snyder hasn’t emerged yet.

Apparently, ‘imminent’ is the word being used around the Commanders’ ownership status. While Snyder is ‘imminently’ expected to sell the franchise, he seems to be taking care of business prior to that. Back in November, Snyder and his significant other showcased their intentions of selling the team. Maybe that much-awaited moment has finally arrived for the Washington fans.

The successor of the franchise

The next owner of the Washington Commanders has been still kept under wraps, or maybe there isn’t one yet. The biggest obstacle for Dan Snyder could be the other NFL team owners. Even though Dan Snyder has requested indemnification, amidst all the ongoing investigations, other NFL owners will never agree to such broad and sweeping legal protection for Snyder.

A few names such as Jeff Bezos and Josh Harris came up as potential replacements for Snyder. The initial bidding process didn’t quite work out as one would have hoped. Bezos seems to be out of the running. And Harris has just solidified his claim with the addition of Mitchell Rales to the Harris group.
