NFL legend Antonio Brown has been the topic of discussion in the community lately. The former Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver has again made headlines after hinting at a potential return to the sport. After the Steelers’ recent thrashing at the hands of the San Fransisco 49ers, the Steelers legend teased the idea of making a comeback over a series of Tweets.

In the game against the 49ers, Steelers Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson pulled his hamstring badly after a catch-and-run. Reports have indicated that the dependable flanker could be sidelined for weeks. While Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has avoided addressing the reports directly, inside he is probably losing his night’s sleep thinking about it.

Brown was a dominant force with the Steelers in the 2010-18 time period. Even in his last season, he managed an impressive total of 104 receptions, 1297 yards, and 15 touchdowns. But fed up with the constant drama surrounding him, the franchise decided to part ways with Brown in 2019. They sold him to Oakland Raiders and Brown left the Raiders for the New England Patriots in the following season. He played his last NFL game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in 2021.

Given his legacy at the club, one could easily think that Brown, 34, would make a perfect replacement for Johnson. Well, it looks like the wide receiver thinks the same too. Amid Steelers’ concern for a backup receiver, Brown posted a cryptic tweet yesterday, Heard the Steelers need a WR……….., tagging his former team.

He immediately followed up with a picture of himself in the Steelers jersey, with the caption “Hear Me Out……..”

It looks as if Brown is trying his best to be noticed by the franchise, as he has offered Mike Tomlin relief from his recent headache.

Antonio Brown’s history of pitching comebacks and personal troubles

In 2019, the New England Patriots got rid of Brown after he was hit by NFL internal investigations. In the following year, he kept getting involved in further legal run-ins. Controversies didn’t leave Brown even at the top of his game. Earlier this year in April, the 2020 SB Champion had seemingly hinted at his comeback. He posted a picture of himself in the Baltimore Ravens‘s jersey, although the team likely showed no interest in him and instead signed Odell Beckham Jr. to fill in their needs.

Only he knows how determined he is to make a comeback this time. The Steelers must come to a quick decision as the situation is getting worse for Mike Tomlin. With the early injury crisis, they are now in dire need of a backup wide receiver. And as the next game against the Cleveland Browns approaches, Mike can certainly give Brown’s tweets a thought or two. After a rollercoaster ride for years, Brown could finally be settling at the ground that made him a legend. It would be exciting to see Brown’s reunion with the Steelers if it happens, and fans can only hope.
