The controversial ex-NFL player Antonio Brown has stormed his way back into the headlines. The ex – Buccaneers wide receiver never started far away from the spotlight ever since his bizarre exit back in 2022, amidst the third quarter of a match against the New York Jets, leading to his release from the franchise.

It’s been nearly 600 days, and the star has never stepped on the gridiron ever since. The controversial player meanwhile also joined the owner of Albany Empire, National Arena league, which also did not last longer over a failure to pay mandatory assessments. Amidst his absence from football, the ex-NFL took a plunge into the music industry, perhaps an outlet for his abandoned gridiron dreams, reflected by his latest social media update.

Brown, who had transitioned his career off the field post his NFL departure, is awaiting the release of his latest venture. His upcoming single, titled ‘Shoulder Pads’ featuring rapper Lil Wayne, part of his latest album titled ‘Stoic’ is set to release on September 1. The album features seven singles by Brown, including collaborations with other popular artists.

The latest single appears to take a stroll down memory lane with his reflections on his NFL life. A snippet from one of his singles shared on his Instagram story features a coach motivating his teammates during challenging times: “Either we heal as a team or we’re going to crumble.  Inch by inch, play by play, till we’re finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen, believe me, and we can stay here, get the sh*t kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light, and climb out of hell. One inch at a time”.

The apparent nod to his past NFL days hints that the former receiver has not let go of the memories. As the former wide receiver is exploring a music career, it seems that it also provides more than melodies serving as an outlet for a tumultuous career fitted with controversies and eventual departure.

A career marred by controversies

No doubt Brown boasts an illustrious career of winning a super bowl,  four first-team All-Pro selections, and countless other achievements. However, his journey was also littered with controversies. Back in 2018, eight years after his league debut,  he refused to play in the final game of the season after a confrontation with Ben Roethlisberger during a training session. In the following year, he refused to oblige with the NFL rules that insist that players should not change their helmets for safety reasons.

Brown, who later joined the Patriots shortly faced accusatory allegations from a former coach. During his stint at Buccaneers, he was also embroiled in controversies about COVID-19 vaccines and was later suspended by the NFL for falsifying his vaccination records.
