NBA player Ja Morant continues to find himself in troubled waters. The Memphis Grizzlies star finds himself being sidelined by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after a recent social media video showcasing the NBA star flashing a gun. This led to the league issuing a 25-game suspension to the  23-year-old for the incident, which means that he’ll be out from the Grizzlies roster for the first 25 games of the 2023-2024 NBA season.

As Ja Morant deals with this new controversy, many have come forward to criticize the basketball player’s behavior. And among those, former NFL punter Pat McAfee has come forward to take a dig at Morant and the situation he finds himself in.

Shots fired by Pat McAfee toward Ja Morant

On May 14, Ja Morant was part of an Instagram live session with his friend Davonte Pack. During the live IG session, Morant flashed a handgun while driving and humming to the tunes of a rap song. This led to the Memphis  Grizzlies suspending their player from all team activities. This led to the league deciding on imposing a 25-game suspension on Morant in the new NBA season. And even Pat McAfee did not shy away from voicing his opinion on Morant’s behavior.

During a recent episode of the Pat McAfee show, the ex-NFL punter discussed the controversial gun brandishing by the NBA All-Star. He said, “Can’t do that obviously you’re an NBA player. An NBA superstar. You’re a bad influence. You’re kind of ruining and diminishing the name.” He further went on to talk about how legally owning a gun is okay, but flashing it around “as if it is a cool thing to do” is not a good example to put forward.

Troubled times for Morant

Earlier, photos of the Grizzlies player went viral of him at a strip club called Shotgun Willie in Colorado. This led to ex-NFL star Dez Bryant allegedly stating that the strip club got paid to leak the photos of Morant. Not only this but the NBA star was also suspended for eight games back in March when another video of him flashing a hand-gun while intoxicated at the club went made rounds on social media as well. Back then, Morant issued an official statement owning up to his actions while making commitments not to repeat them in the future. But now, he finds himself facing the same situation once more.
