Patrick Mahomes is etching his way to greatness. The 27-year-old has carved his name as one of the greatest QB to play in the league in a short span of time. And the credit goes to his relentless work ethic and his desire to improve every step of the way. But apart from the dedication to reach glory, the 2X SB champion opens up about how he draws heavy inspiration from other talented professional athletes in different sports.
Back in 2021, the QB opened up about how growing up with his father, MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, led to him learning a lot from great MLB athletes like Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. And now, most recently, Patrick Mahomes opens up about how his winning mentality also draws inspiration from one of the NBA’s greatest, Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant was always looked up to by fans in the world of basketball for his crazy work ethic. The NBA star, who passed away in a tragic helicopter crash in 2020, always emphasized the importance of practice. And this is something that Patrick Mahomes carries forward in his life with great zeal.
According to an article by the Kansas City Star, the QB talked about Kobe Bryant being one of his role models during an interview with CBS Mornings. Mahomes said that he watches a lot of Bryant’s clips from the NBA. And from this, he learned the importance of practicing to perfection. He said, “And that’s why you see all these amazing arm angles and throws and all that type of stuff, but I prepare for those moments.” He talks about how he “prepares” for the kind of passes he makes on the field and the amount of practice that goes behind it.
In the same interview, Patrick Mahomes opened up about how he agreed to be a part of ‘Quarterback’ docuseries because it would show the practice that goes behind his plays for the Chiefs.

Mahomes wanted fans to see the work put in
The initial season of the Netflix docuseries has earned considerable success. In just three days of its release, it went on to become the No.1 show on the platform. And the docuseries give unprecedented access to the lives of Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota. In the same interview with CBS Mornings, the Chiefs QB talked about how the docuseries help people see the amount of work and effort that goes into practice. He said, “I think this docuseries shows that, that we’re preparing every day for the one throw that you’re gonna have to have a season, so you can execute it and go out and win games.” This will help fans understand the grueling task of being a professional footballer in the NFL, especially from a quarterback’s perspective.
And now, with the new season just 40 days away, Patrick Mahomes will be looking to put in that extra effort once again in practice, in order to have another chance at a Super Bowl final.
