In the latest installment of football rivalries, Travis Kelce is going head-to-head with Rob Gronkowski. This contention between the fans isn’t new. However, it was Jason Kelce himself, who brought it up in the latest episode of his podcast with both tight ends present at the conversation. It even led to a comparison with the NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s rivalry with LeBron James. Despite excelling in their respective domains, there was no shortage of speculations whenever they set new records, much like this TE duo.

After the Chiefsrecent preseason bout against the Saints, Travis and his brother had a special guest on their show, none other than the legendary TE, Rob. While talking about their rivalry on the football field that pushed them to greatness, Jason mentioned his brother’s recent 25-yard record, which left the trio bursting into laughter.

Getting into the Tight End rivalry, Jason started with Travis’ recent achievement, scoring four touchdowns while gaining only 25 yards. This broke a record previously held by Marvin Jones for 93 yards, making Travis the new record holder. Jason joked that it’s “One of the most buns records of all time,” which made Rob burst into laughter, while Travis displayed his unease with an awkward smile.

Moving on, Jason said that fans on social media immediately start comparing Rob and Travis whenever one of them breaks a record. He excitedly compared it to the Kobe vs. LeBron rivalry, noting that it’s always intense. He asked the tight-end duo if this comparison gets annoying.

Rob chimed in, saying that Travis’ arrival in the league amped up his game and the competition, as both of them started hitting 1000 yards per season. The 4-time Super Bowl champion added that young Travis was very relentless and was on track to take the top spot, which he wasn’t too happy about. While praising him, Rob said he couldn’t slack off at all because of the youngster’s entry. He mentioned this push has made him better, and he really appreciates it.

As the conversation delved deeper, the 4x SB champ brought up Travis’s outstanding 2018 season. Kelce had an impressive 1416 receiving yards, surpassing George Kittle, who had 1377 receiving yards. This left Rob trailing by quite a margin, by both Kittle and Travis. He energetically mentioned how this motivated and even irked him simultaneously, as the young players were taking the spotlight.

Notably, Rob also mentioned how the 2-time Super Bowl champion turned him into a competitive player. He further expressed appreciation for how Travis is putting Tight Ends on the map with his incredible performances, including a fantastic season last year, recording 100 catches.

Travis has dominated the training camps held in the past few weeks. He remains one of the most ruthless TEs in the league, and will surely take his team to the peak this year as well, with a slightly more compact roster.
