There is always a debate about figuring out the greatest of all time in any sport. While Michael Jordan is considered one of the legends of the NBA, not everyone considers him the GOAT. Fans come up with their analogies to prove their point, and NFL great Shannon Sharpe is no different. Likewise, the three-time Super Bowl champion came up with an interesting analogy by using Elon Musk to make his point in an MJ argument.

One of the criteria that fans use to evaluate the greatest player is the total career regular season points scored. Currently, Former Los Angels Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the record with 38,387 points scored in 1,560 games. His Airness holds the fifth position on that list with 32,292 points in 1,072 games. While both the legends have long since retired from the game, current Lakers great?LeBron James can attain the top spot this season as he is just behind Abdul-Jabbar with 37,622 points in 1,560 games.

Shanon Sharpe’s analogy for a Michael Jordan argument

The former Denver Broncos star once responded to a tweet that said?Jordan would have scored 41,000 points if he had played as many games as LeBron James. Sharpe mockingly responded, “IF* Shannon Sharpe had as many shares in Tesla as Elon Musk, he’d have 266 billion dollars“.

Notably, Sharpe highlighted the word ‘IF’ with an asterisk. This could stand as an instance that the former NFL legend is not a big fan of the age-old ‘ifs and buts’ argument often used when discussing sporting legends of the past.

The Chicago Bulls legend has the best career average of 30.12 points per game in the NBA. Comparatively, James has a career average of 27.13 per game. Unfortunately, MJ couldn’t play as many games considering his two retirement announcements in 1993 and 1998.
