NASCAR and the NFL boast some of the most passionate sports people in America. The Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers provided a classic example of that. Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, was seen getting aggressive with coach Andy Reid. The instance has been the talk of the town, and former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has joined in as well. Herman came to Kelce’s defense on Twitter and cited NASCAR’s unfiltered conversations as a reference.
Travis Kelce’s reaction at the end of the first quarter showed that athletes can often lose their composure in the heat of the moment. And NASCAR drivers are well acquainted with that feeling.

Kelce was on the bench before the incident. As soon as the Chiefs’ running back Isiah Pacheco fumbled the team’s third offensive drive in the game, there was a sense of frustration among the players. That was precisely when the broadcast cameras shifted to Travis Kelce, who yelled at his coach and bumped him to convey his frustration.
Kelce merely wanted coach Reid to put him in the game. A few moments after the incident, Travis Kelce hugged Reid and got a pat from his coach in return. Noticing the clash, Kenny Wallace took to Twitter and voiced his opinion on it. He wrote, “This is nothing. You should listen to the radio scanner when a @NASCAR race car driver mo**er f**ks his own Crew Chief.”
NASCAR has witnessed such heated moments very often. In recent years, fans can reminisce about the short-tempered reaction from Martin Truex Jr on his team radio last year or Kevin Harvick‘s profane rant aimed at his crew in COTA. In a sport where the race can change in seconds, drivers can lose their minds if things don’t go as planned.
This is nothing.

As for Kenny Wallace, this is not the first time he has expressed interest in the NFL. A few weeks ago, Wallace defended Travis Kelce’s girlfriend and megastar Taylor Swift against a backlash from the fans.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are the NFL’s power couple. Thanks to Kelce’s matches around the country, Swift has accompanied him and showed her support in many games throughout the year. Following the pattern, the megastar was present at the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium for an AFC playoff game with the Chiefs. But during the game, the broadcast constantly showed Swift as the game proceeded.
This invited widespread backlash from the NFL community. Having worked with the NASCAR broadcast booth long, Kenny Wallace understood how these things work. He clarified the situation on Twitter, “When you do TV, they have a production team. There’s a guy called the director.”
“The director directs his people. They’ll say camera three, show Taylor Swift, and camera three goes to her. You have to go to the director and say why did you show Taylor Swift? Most likely, the director is going to say that there are eight people who like Taylor Swift, and there are only two that doesn’t like her. So the people that are doing the yapping are a very small majority but very loud.”
