A teammate’s mother forgot Kap’s real name
In March of this year, Colin Kaepernick released his graphic novel “Change The Game,” beautifully depicting the journey of a young change-maker finding himself and staying true to his beliefs. In the book, Kaepernick shared an incident from his past where a former teammate’s mother affectionately called him “BO.” His teammate corrected her, saying, “His name’s Colin, Ma,” but she appreciated it and said, “Sure, but he’s like BO Jackson. Baseball, football, basketball- the boy does it all!”
After the incident, Kaepernick felt respected by the teammate’s mother, and he wrote a note on that page, reflecting on the realization that being around people who made him feel good about himself also made him feel like he truly belonged. From that point on, he was determined to gravitate toward those supportive individuals.
Kaepernick’s graphic novel has garnered a positive response from readers, earning an impressive rating of 4.6 on Amazon. Building on this success, Kaepernick is preparing for another comeback plan, and that too with Patrick Mahomes, scheduled to unfold in October.
