The Dallas Cowboys had another disappointing showing on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys lost to Washington 41-16. Mike McCarthy is once again under fire for his tactics.

The Cowboys were once again poor on both the offensive and defensive end. Statistically, they were better than Washington, but the latter was more efficient with what they were doing.

While the defensive unit of the Cowboys had a total of 69 tackles, they still conceded several field goals and touchdowns across all four quarters.

The Cowboys had a poor showing even on the attacking end. The attacking unit only threw one touchdown during the entire game. And they had no success with their rushing, averaging close to 3.3 yards per rushing attempt.

For the Cowboys, this loss comes as no surprise. Since losing Dak Prescott, the Cowboys have been floundering this season.

Coach Mike McCarthy has not been able to rally the squad to have a good performance for much of the season. The Cowboys are 3-8 and a risk of missing the playoffs this season.

Dallas Cowboys in a slump.

The Cowboys have not had good performances this season, and have been poor overall. The Cowboys are now on a three-game losing streak and are looking increasingly likely to not be in the playoffs.

The Cowboys risk losing Dak Prescott in free agency if they continue to have a poor season. That should be enough motivation in order to keep their franchise star.

The loss to Washington was just another example of poor decision making from both the players and the coaching staff. The tactics employed and executed by the Cowboys against Washington were very poor, and a reason for their blowout loss.

Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy spoke after the game during the post-game conference. McCarthy defended the criticism aimed towards the tactics he employed during the game.

“Well, I mean it’s definitely a big-play opportunity. There are certain things you look for tendency-wise on when and where. But obviously, we didn’t execute it. That’s how those things go. Obviously, it’s ultimately my responsibility, particularly when a play like that doesn’t work.”

He further added “But we’re trying to generate a big play. At that point in the game, our information that you look for going into it, it was a solid call.”

McCarthy will not have much time to get his team back focused. The Cowboys play the Ravens next week, in what will be a tough encounter for the team.
