Aaron Rodgers hasn’t stopped smiling ever since he set foot in the Metropolis as the quarterback of the New York Jets. The long-drawn transfer saga and negotiations came to an end last week as the Packers and the Jets came to a mutually satisfactory compensation package for the 39-year-old quarterback. However, the excitement level for the Gang Green fan base knew no bounds as the Jets came out with another intriguing announcement.
The Aaron Rodgers hype train reached a new station as the Jets announced a new season of their reality TV series, ‘Flight 23: Ascension.’ The trailer dropped on the team’s official YouTube channel. Ripe with exclusive footage from the off-season drama, fans got a taste of what went down behind the scenes to bring Rodgers to New York.

Jets announce a new season for their reality show

Back in March 2023, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers shocked the entire NFL world when he announced his updated career intentions. “I made it clear that my intention was to play. And my intention was to play for the New York Jets,” Rodgers had said. Fast forward to late April and Rodgers finally became the Jets QB. So what went down in the middle? Well, fans can get all their answers on May 18, when the Jets release the new season of their off-season reality show.
The Hard Knock-type documentary journals the Jets preparing for the upcoming preseason and OTAs. This is the third edition of the ‘Flight’ Jets docu-series and surely the most anticipated one. Besides practice highlights, Flight 23 tracks the pursuit of 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers along with the war room footage from the 2023 NFL Draft featuring Jets GM Joe Douglas.
Fans could not contain their excitement. “Goosebumps. Let’s go Jets,” one fan commented. Another Gang Green member wrote, “What a time to be a Jets fan!” Even the Green Bay Packers fans looked excited. “This looks awesome. The Jets just got me, a Packers fan, definitely interested in checking this out once it comes out.” One fan gave a shout-out to 1JD Production. “Production level is amazing. Can’t wait for this year’s series.”

Much of the reality show’s future success depends on Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets are in desperate need of postseason success. Their last playoff appearance came in 2010 and their last championship was Super Bowl III. Aaron Rodgers has declined Broadway Joe’s jersey no 12. However, he looks ready to fill Namath’s shoes. “That Super Bowl III trophy is looking a little lonely,” Rodgers said during his introductory press conference.

The Jets finished the 2022 season with a 7-10 record. Fans are hoping this season is to be slightly different. With Rodgers starting the preseason grind with last year’s OROY Garrett Wilson, things are certainly looking uphill. The QB has more weapons than he did at Green Bay with the addition of Mecole Hardman and Rodgers’ old teammate Allen Lazard. Also, the Jets house one of the strongest defensive units in the league. Can this team clinch the championship and make for an epic Flight 2024 series?
