“My Career Has Been Quite Similar”: English Soccer Team Captain Harry Kane Once Compared Himself to NFL Goat Tom Brady

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was uninspiring against the USA team. Although England brought terror against the other team, they fell flat against the USA. Kane had zero goals and missed two close calls. Despite his lackluster performance, he once confessed that he hoped to perform as well as the legend Tom Brady.

The England captain had a remarkable year in 2018 and became a hero for his country when he led his team to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup. He also won the Golden Boot in Russia. While talking about his rise to the top, he put Brady in the uppermost spot. Kane explained that Tampa Tom became a huge inspiration to him. Even though he was the 199th draft pick, California Cool fought against all odds and became the best in the sport.

“It gave me huge self-belief and confidence that I was going to make it; I was going to prove myself on the big stage. My career has been quite similar. Hopefully, now I can go on and win a few trophies and go down as one of the best strikers in the world.” The NFL GOAT is a great inspiration for many. Therefore, it is not surprising for the soccer player to desire to be as great as him. Maybe Kane can turn the season around like Tom Brady. 

Tom Brady took a jab at another soccer superstar

The NFL star player acted in a Fox Sports commercial. Although it was a cameo where he appeared on the screen for only two seconds, he did not miss throwing a quip at the biggest star of soccer. He also made a self-deprecating joke.

In the commercial, the 45-year-old QB appeared after the 1-minute mark of the commercial. Jon Hamm dressed as Santa Claus because the tournament kicked off in the winter instead of the summer. 

Jon Hamm, who played Santa Claus, is busy assembling the biggest stars together with his army of assistants. On the screen Cristiano Ronaldo was celebrating a goal he kicked for team Portugal.

Tampa Tom appears and says about the 37-year-old soccer star, “He’s getting kind of old, isn’t he?” This comes from the oldest active player in the NFL. Not only did TB12 throw shade at CR7, but also ironically joked about his age.
