Most fans know Randi Mahomes as the mother of Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes. But what most don’t know is that she was against her son leaving his university education to pursue his NFL dream.

Now that Texas Tech is inducting Mahomes into the “Ring of Honor”, she opened up about what transpired.

Patrick Mahomes has achieved everything in the NFL. He led the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl title. He also became the MVP in the 2019 Super Bowl. And Mahomes might do it all again. But his present achievements are enough for Texas Tech to induct him into the university’s Ring of Honor. And his mother, Randi Mahomes, could not be happier.

But one wonders what could have been if Mahomes listened to his mother’s advice when he decided to join the NFL by sacrificing his college education. In an interview, Randi Mahomes opened up on the issue.

Going back to the stadium there, it’s really going to mean a lot,” Randi saidI’ve joked with Patrick, when he left college early, I begged him to stay. I was the one begging him to stay because, you know, being a grown-up isn’t as always fun as it looks when you’re that age,” she added.

The Chiefs QB joined Texas Tech in 2014 but left a year early in 2017 to join the NFL draft that year. The rest, as they say, is history.

Randi Mahomes runs a clothing business called ‘The QB producer’. She said that she got the nickname when she started watching her son Patrick Mahomes play for the Chiefs in Kansas. From a nickname, it developed into a business idea. There’s not a whole lot of stuff to buy when it comes to girls and going to a football game or a basketball game, and you want to be cute still,” Randi said.

It was something that just came about. Actually, the first year we went to the Super Bowl, I was like I don’t care what I wear. I just want a jersey and then I want a cute bag and clear bags are the thing. I found someone that did it and then it kind of grew,” she added.
