Patrick Mahomes didn’t have a peaceful night on Saturday getting the win for Kansas after suffering a high ankle sprain in the game. The Chiefs beat Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20 to advance to their fifth straight AFC Championship appearance. However, for Patrick’s mother, the game was a rollercoaster of emotions.
Mothers worry. More so if her quarterback son is always facing bigger and stronger men rushing and blitzing him. And her worst fears almost came true on Saturday night when Patrick Mahomes limped his way out of the field into the locker room after the end of the first quarter. However, fans know how things ultimately ended.

Randi Mahomes barely misses any of Patrick’s home games at Arrowhead. And this week’s visuals were understandably hard for her to digest. Late in the first quarter, Mahomes fell down to a Jags’ rush tackle. Jacksonville linebacker Arden Key landed on Mahomes’ ankle, twisting his knees and bringing the NFL passing yards and TD leader down. Mahomes limped and somehow finished the first quarter before being rushed off for x-rays against his wishes.

Backup QB Chad Henne stepped up in the 2nd quarter in his absence. And Mahomes returned for the second half and mesmerized fans with his heroics. However, Chiefs Kingdom was worried about Patrick’s status after the game, when the adrenaline had finally settled. And fortunately, the Mahomes family shared some good news on Twitter.
Awwwwww ❤️ I hope Patrick is feeling better.

He’s a magician. yesterday he proved he’s an ironman. Competitive as Jordan or even more competitive. He ain’t going down like that he’s at 70% is better then most 100% but I believe he’s tough and will be good to go next week

“Much needed hug after the day,” Randi Mahomes captioned her tweet as she hugged her Warrior Chief QB son. And fans showed their relief in the replies.
Fans brought up the second Lombardi waiting at the end of the season
The frame of the adorable mother-son picture had a third guest that caught the NFL world’s attention. Set on the top shelf in the background was Mahomes’ 2020 Lombardi Trophy and his Super Bowl MVP prize. And fans want that second one with only two teams standing in Patrick’s way.

I would hate to see what goes through your head Randi when Patrick gets hurt in a game. I was worried watching him on Saturday. And praying. Thank goodness it was his ankle and not his head. Much love to you both!

Nothing more than that was meant as in, No other damage aside from the high ankle sprain, which is a significant enough injury on its own.

Patrick Mahomes will be ready for the game next week, according to Adam Schefter’s report. Mahomes’ next opponent is probably the hardest he has ever faced. Joe Burrow is the only QB Patrick Mahomes has not beaten in his time in the NFL yet. And the Chiefs signal-caller has a chance to change that next Sunday in the AFC Conference Championship game. Joe Cool and the Bengals have a 3-0 record against Mahomes and Co, including the win in last year’s AFC title game.

The NFC will see the Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers battle it out for a shot at the Super Bowl. And Patrick can either face his 2020 Super Bowl rivals or Jalen Hurts’ supremely talented Philly side. Interestingly, that game will also pit the Kelce brothers, Travis and Jason, opposite to one another for the title game.
