Today, most people know Gisele Bündchen as the NFL quarterback Tom Brady’s beloved wife, but many of them are unaware that, a few years ago, she was one of the top models in the industry. She had everything: more money, more fame, and all types of luxury. However, there is a thing called moral integrity that most artists in this industry have to mortgage to taste success.

Modeling is the art of portraying another’s identity, expression, and thoughts. It is not acting; however, a way of expressing without spitting a word. Sometimes you gotta be stoic, but the body must have the ability to convey the exact message, which sometimes gets misinterpreted. And most of the time, models end up slandered and shamed for the rest of their lives.

Gisele Bündchen, in her book ‘Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life’, penned her thoughts on what it’s like to be on the other side of the lens, focusing on how people used to treat her.

“Most people know me only as an image. An object. A blank canvas on which they can project their own stories, or dreams or fantasies-which, ironically, was the same approach I took at work when I became she, and her!” Bündchen wrote in her book.

For more than 23 years, Bündchen was a student in the modeling world. And all she has is gratitude and respect for those who gave her the opportunity. Because all the visibility she has today is just because of that one decision she took at 14.

Gisele Bündchen recalls the moment of her first photoshoot

Bündchen was 17 when the model had her first nude photoshoot. “So, I’m in this position,” Bündchen said, trying to imitate the physical motion and explaining her first impressions.

“And, I swear to God, I was so stiff. I was so scared, I wasn’t even breathing because I was afraid that something was going to show more. I was like, ‘Oh my God, my parents are going to kill me!’” she added.

Moreover, the model revealed that if life gives her a second chance to start all over again, she would choose to become a volleyball player or a veterinarian in the first place. Modeling was never her first choice, nor her passion. But when life threw her an opportunity to earn at a young age, she just took it. And the rest is history. Indeed, every successful career has a bunch of hidden dark truths of sacrifice and hardships.
